Soprano Janet Fischer, mezzo-soprano Alice Mary Coote and composer Max Richter were among British musicians recognised in the King’s New Year’s Honours list this month.

Composer and pianist Max Richter was appointed a CBE for services to the arts alongside mezzo-soprano Alice Mary Coote CBE.

Soprano Janet Fischer, CEO of the national music charity Live Music Now, receives an MBE in recognition of her contribution to music, communities, and social impact.

Other musicians to be recognised include:

  • Richard Farnes, conductor and former Opera North director
  • Matthew Jones, National Youth Arts Wales leader
  • Canon John Thomas Naylor, Nantwich Choral Society music director
  • Richard Morrison, music critic for The Times.
