Following my recent review of Alec Rowley: Piano Works I am currently trying to commission a CD devoted to Alec Rowley’s organ music.
Herman Jordaan is keen to make one, and Priory is willing in principle to adopt the project if sufficient funding can be found.
I have secured the co-operation of Albion Church, Ashton-u-Lyne, which has a four manual Lewis organ of 47 stops (1895). This organ would be particularly suitable, as it is of the same date and maker as the organ played by Rowley at St Alban’s Church Teddington in the 1920s.
I am willing to pay Herman’s fees and expenses and also the cost of using the church and tuning the organ. I would like to hear from BMS members who would be interested in buying such a disc or possibly even helping to fund it. I may be contacted at martin@ismeron.co.uk
