Partita for cello and piano, Op.35
Elegy for cello and piano, Op.5
Sonata for cello solo, Op.52
Alleluia Pascha Nostrum for cello and piano, Op.85

The Sonata Op.52 receives here its world-première recording. The fourth work in the programme, the Alleluia Pascha Nostrum, was commissioned by Raphael Wallfisch and first performed by him at a BBC concert in Manchester’s Royal Exchange on 25 February 1982, the year following its completion. This is the world-renowned cellist’s second recording of the latter work. The present CD is the second of two recitals recorded recently by these artists for the BMS label.

“… the impassioned playing of Raphael Wallfisch and Raphael Terroni…makes their disc another welcome addition to the expanding number of the composer’s available recorded works,” Tim Mottershead, Tempo

“… you know you are in the hands of a true composer…this fine disc…a most welcome addition to the growing Leighton discography,” Piers Burton-Page, International Record Review
