Forbidden Love
As part of the London Song Festival ‘Summer Love’ season, one of the concerts will feature the premiere of Granville Bantock’s song-cycle The Sphinx. This setting of Oscar Wilde’s poem of the same name was written in 1941, but has remained unperformed until now. The programme will also include readings from Wilde’s writings and trial transcripts, connecting the songs to Wilde’s tragic story. With Arthur Bruce, Edward Jowle, Nigel Foster and actor Simon Butteriss.
