The premiere recording of a cello concerto written by British-Argentine Neo-romantic composer Polo Piatti will be launched on CD on 17 September.

Recorded with the National Symphony Orchestra and featuring cellist Justin Pearson with John Andrews conducting at the Henry Wood Hall in London, the Old World Concerto for Cello and Orchestra premiered in 2022.

According to the composer, the concerto is a deeply lyrical and emotionally rich composition which takes the listener on a heartfelt journey through contrasting sonic landscapes – evoking themes of cultural heritage, inner reflection, and melodic expansiveness.

Polo, whose music defies conventional categorisation, has carved a unique path in the world of classical music. A classical piano improviser from a young age, he has toured extensively throughout Europe, Asia, North and South America, premiering his compositions as a soloist and collaborating with various soloists and international orchestras.
