London Symphony Orchestra has announced an ambitious multi‑platform celebration of Gustav Holst’s The Planets, beginning in March 2026 with the release of a new album on LSO Live pairing Holst’s astrological suite with Arnold Bax’s Tintagel.

This major undertaking will unfold across 2026–27, bringing digital, educational, and live experiences to audiences in the UK and beyond. To bring the wonders of space to life, the LSO will collaborate with British astronaut Tim Peake, who will create exclusive educational content and appear across the campaign’s early phases.

SOMM Recordings’ new series, Elgar from the Archives, explores Edward Elgar’s music with rare archival recordings, not only from well-known British interpreters but also from lesser known, yet equally laudable, international conductors and soloists.

Volume 2 in the series features historic live performances of Sir Edward Elgar’s Violin Concerto in B minor, Op. 61 with Tibor Varga, and the Cello Concerto in E minor, Op. 85 with André Navarra.

SOMM Recordings celebrates the 400th anniversary of two Renaissance masters of the First Golden Age of English Song: John Dowland (1563– 1626) and John Danyel (1564–1626). This recital for tenor and lute takes its name from Dowland’s song, Time Stands Still.

The recording features British tenor Kieran White, who was a chorister at Wells Cathedral and held a Kohn Foundation Scholarship at the Royal Academy of Music.

SOMM Recordings celebrates the powerful and dynamic relationship between soloist and orchestra with three world premiere recordings of works by Nimrod Borenstein, whom Opus klassiek called “Brilliant…an inspired composer but also an inspiring conductor.”

Borenstein leads the English Chamber Orchestra in his Concerto for mandolin and orchestra; Shakespeare Songs for soprano and orchestra; and Légende – Concerto for oboe and orchestra.
