The festival consists of a full day of fascinating talks, presentations, performances and discussions about the life and work of Sir Malcolm Arnold – one of the leading British composers of the second half of the 20th century. 

In addition, the Malcolm Arnold Society is currently aiming to raise £10,000 to fund the production of a cd of Malcolm’s brass music through a collaboration with Foden’s Band.

Formed in 1902 by Edwin Foden, and originally named ‘The Foden’s Motorworks Band’, Foden’s Band would go on to win 12 British Open titles and 16 National Championships of Great Britain.

Regularly appearing on BBC TV and Radio, the band perform at leading concert halls around the world. Foden’s Band is a trademark that musicians associate with inestimable class and musicianship.

Sir Malcolm Arnold is well known for his classical, film and brass music. This CD will contain several pieces that have previously never been recorded including The Song of Freedom for brass band and children’s choir and a good selection of Malcolm’s many other works for brass.
