Composer Joseph Horovitz, who died on 9 February at the age of 95, is remembered in this short film by the British Music Society at the CD launch of their BMS recording on the Naxos label of Bush & Horovitz Songs.

Joseph Horovitz is pictured above with BMS member Madeleine Mitchell after a concert at Leighton House for Kensington & Chelsea Music Society of which they were both Vice Presidents

This was part of the BMS AGM on 23 June 2017 with Martin Cotton (interviewer), Susanna Fairbairn, Soprano and Matthew Schellhorn, Piano.

Joseph Horovitz’s modest but equally varied contribution includes Lady Macbeth, a powerful, harmonically astringent scena, as well as witty cabaret items and one song which, in its late-Romantic nostalgia, reveals his Viennese roots.

You can buy the CD (Naxos 8.571378) online via the BMS website.
