Philip Hunt’s suggestion in last month’s Bite-Back that the announcement of my biography of E. J. Moeran in the April Newsletter “overlooks” Geoffrey Self’s The Music of E. J. Moeran rather misses the point of announcing the publication of a new book.
If he buys and reads my book, he will discover that both Self’s and Hill’s work are appropriately acknowledged and critiqued. However, although Mr Hunt may perhaps disagree, I saw no reason why these previous publications should have been mentioned in the notification of the publication of my book.
