Conductor Douglas Bostock has long championed Gordon Jacob’s music in concerts and recordings from his first contact with him in 1982 until the end of his life.

Douglas commissioned one of his last works – the Timpani Concerto – which was completed in 1984.

Jacob’s music is alive and well in Japan with a concert programme of his music given by one of the world’s leading fully professional ensembles, the Osaka Shion Wind Orchestra.

The concert programme will also be recorded for CD and will feature:

  • An Original Suite
  • Timpani Concerto
  • William Byrd Suite
  • Concerto for Band
  • Sir Godfrey Kneller’s March
  • Tribute to Canterbury
  • Prelude to Comedy

This is the first concert in a series of events under the motto ‘Bostock’s Jacob Journey’ with concerts in different cities in Japan with various orchestra orchestras, lectures, masterclasses, etc, running from November until April 2027.
